Olympic silver medalist in biathlon Selina Gasparin has been appointed head coach of the Swiss junior team, reports the press service of the Swiss Winter Sports Federation.
Gasparin, 39, will replace Hartwig Birrer, who will leave his post in February next year. The former athlete’s responsibilities will include coordinating cooperation between sports schools and regional associations.
Gasparin won silver in the individual 15 km at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games, this medal is Switzerland’s only in biathlon. She has also been on the podium several times at the World Cup. In 2014, Gasparin married a Russian skier Ilya Chernousova .
