Russian national team biathlete Vasily Tomshin told he hopes to compete for top spots in the International Club Biathlon League’s (MLKB) inaugural PARI Cup races.
The competition will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk on November 18-19. Among the men, 57 athletes applied for the tournament, including 2022 Olympic medalist on the Russian national team Eduard Latypov and Belarusian Olympic runner-up Anton Smolsky. For victory, athletes will receive one million rubles.
“No one forced the preparation for the season because of participation in the MLKB Cup; we want to use these competitions as an introduction to the already planned work. We are carrying out large-scale work. I repeat that we have not forced the preparations voluntarily, but that we acted according to our plan.
— If this is a test workout for you, could you imagine that you could get a million rubles for winning it?
– No, of course, I couldn’t imagine (laughs). But the control training here still does not have the usual format: the Belarusians will run next to each other.
– What are your plans? Do you think you will win the main prize?
“I expect to compete, that’s for sure.” I can’t objectively assess my form yet, but I will definitely fight,” Tomshin told .
