Nuzhdov explained how the MLKB Cup prize money was determined

General Director of the International Club Biathlon League (ILCL), Alexei Nujdov, explained what criteria were taken into account when determining the amount of prize money for competition medalists.

The first MLKB Cup will take place on November 18 and 19 in Khanty-Mansiysk. Russian and Belarusian biathletes take part in the races. The mass starts were won by Karim Khalili and Anastasia Goreeva.

— MLKB has an unprecedented prize fund. For each race, the winner receives one million rubles, the second – 500,000 rubles, and the third – 250,000. Where do these numbers come from?

“I asked my assistants to estimate how much our leaders could actually earn at the World Cup stages. For example, could Eduard Latypov claim a top-three finish in this or that race? Could be able. It was from this data that we started,” Nuzhdov said, as quoted by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

He also indicated which leagues they were focusing on when preparing for the tournament.

— I don’t know if there are club biathlon competitions anywhere. In cross-country skiing, there are Ski Classics, where teams run marathons. The “Russian Winter” team performs there from our country. But, to be honest, we had other guidelines: ideally, these were the KHL, the NHL hockey leagues and the UEFA football organization. It is clear that everything will not work out right away. We had to start somewhere. We have started,” Nuzhdov noted.

On Sunday, as part of the PARI MLCB, pursuit races will take place; watch live broadcasts at 9:05 and 11:20 (Moscow time) on the channel.
