The organizers of the PARI Cup of the International Club Biathlon League (ILCL) will try to introduce one or two additional stages of the tournament into the competition calendar, having previously discussed this possibility with all interested parties, said the general director of MLCL. Alexei Nuzhdov in an interview with correspondent Dmitry Zanin.
The first MLCB Cup took place on November 18-19 in Khanty-Mansiysk. Russian and Belarusian biathletes took part in the races. Karim Khalili won the men’s mass start, Anastasia Goreeva became the best in the same discipline among women, and Belarusians Anton Smolsky and Anna Sola became the first in the pursuit race. For winning the tournament, each of them received a million rubles.
— I agree with what you said that the competition was brilliant and great (laughs). I’m really very happy. It was a major event, there are a lot of nuances. It seems to me that everything went well. First of all, thanks to the efficient and brilliant work of and the organizers, I mean Ugra. Everything is at the highest level as always. I spoke with the athletes, everyone was positive, there was no tension or understatement.
It is clear that these competitions have the right to life, they arouse the interest of athletes and spectators. But for the moment, it is difficult to say how we can integrate them into the calendar. We will discuss this with all interested parties. We will try to organize one more stage, maybe even two, this year. But I won’t guess how it will turn out.
Next year, we definitely want to organize one of the stages in a ski sprint format. Everyone goes through the qualifiers, then the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final. Of course, everything comes down to shooting, with two targets. Now we are working on this format, discussing the distance,” Nuzhdov said on .
All races of the PARI MLCB Cup stage in Khanty-Mansiysk were broadcast live on the channel, as well as on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites.
