Vyalbe indicated that the FLGR would not appeal the CAS decision to withdraw Gushchina

President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (RFSR) Elena Vyalbe told that the organization will not appeal the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to suspend Maria Gushchina .

On Tuesday, the press service of the Russian Anti-Doping Committee (RUSADA) reported that CAS had disqualified Gushchina for 12 months, with the 34-year-old athlete’s suspension period beginning on October 27, 2023.

“We won’t appeal anything,” Vyalbe told .

The CAS partially annulled the previous decision of the Anti-Doping Disciplinary Commission of RUSADA dated June 23, 2022 regarding a sanction in the form of a warning to Gushchina for the violation provided for in Article 2.2 of the All-Russian Anti-Doping Rules (use or attempt of use by an athlete of a prohibited substance or a prohibited method).

Gushchina, as part of the Russian women’s team, won a bronze medal in the relay at the 2013 World Championships in Val di Fiemme, Italy. Now the athlete is not performing at a professional level.
