Biathlete Daria Virolainen will not be content to perform only at the stages of the IBU Cup and will probably be part of the national team Finland at the World Cup stages, says host and commentator Dmitry Guberniev .
Virolainen has been included in the Finnish national team for the first stage of the IBU Cup, which will be held in Kontiolahti, Finland from November 30 to December 3. During the stage, women will participate in the individual race (15 km), the sprint (7.5 km), as well as the mixed relay and the mixed singles.
— It would be strange if Virolainen was not part of the Finnish national team. I wish her good luck, she’s great! I think that she will not stop at the IBU Cup and will be part of the national team for the stages of the World Cup, where she will again prove herself, ”Guberniev told correspondent .
Earlier it became known that the International Biathlon Union (IBU) had authorized Virolainen to represent Finland in international competitions in the 2023/24 season. The athlete has lived with her family in Finland since 2016, but at that time she played for the Russian national team and, as a member of the team, won gold at the 2017 European Championship in singles doubles mixed.
Virolainen is the eldest daughter of three-time Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova, who died on October 19, 2023.
