The prologue in Tyumen will take place in the “Pearl of Siberia” and not in the city due to lack of snow, SBR reports.

Executive Director of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Alexander Pak told that the prologue in Tyumen could not take place on the city streets due to unsuitable weather conditions.

The prologue is a pre-departure competition, organized for the first time by the SBR before the main competition program of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup, Championship and Cup of Russia in eight cities of the country. The first stage took place on Tuesday in Khanty-Mansiysk, the biathletes competed without rifles in the 100-meter ski event with elimination. Alexander Kornev won the men’s final and Anna Grukhvina won the women’s final.

“Today, everything happened at the athletics stadium. Won’t this story take place in biathlon complexes either?

— We planned to organize sprints outside the biathlon complexes. But in Tyumen, unfortunately, there is no snow in the city. We wanted to organize the sprint in the park, but due to lack of snow we will organize it at the biathlon stadium [«Жемчужина Сибири”]. We wanted to organize the rest of the sprints in the city. We can only take shots in our stadiums. Shooting competitions will also follow: we have planned four sprint events and four duel events. There will be eight stages in total.

— Alexander Povarnitsyn became the Joker. Should biathletes make these races a spectacle?

— I’ll ask the captains a question, but such things absolutely need to be encouraged in some way. Not just admiration, but also team points,” Park told .

At each individual stage, the winners of the competition receive 50, 40 and 30 thousand rubles and points for ranking, respectively. The winning team will receive 1 million rubles at the end of the season.

Watch the first races of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup stage in Khanty-Mansiysk on Friday, December 1 live on the channel, as well as on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites.
