Norwegian men’s biathlon team won gold in the relay during the first stage of the World Cup held in Östersund (Sweden).
Endre Strömsheim, Tarjei Boe, Johannes Boe and Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen avoided penalties, used seven extra laps and achieved a time of 1 hour 14 minutes 28.4 seconds.
Second place was taken by the French team (Eric Perrault, Emilien Jacquelin, Fabien Claude, Quentin Fillon-Mahiet, 0+11), losing to the Norwegians by 20.6 seconds. The German team won bronze (David Zobel, Philipp Navrat, Benedikt Doll, Johannes Kühn, 1+16, +50.5).
The women’s sprint race will take place on Friday in Östersund.
Russian biathletes do not participate in competitions under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union due to the situation in Ukraine.
