The head coach of the Belarusian freestyle ski team, Maxim Gustik, died following an accident in Minsk, reports the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus.
Gustik’s death, at the age of 35, was announced on Saturday; the circumstances of the tragedy have not been revealed.
“The NOC of Belarus expresses its condolences to his family and friends following their bereavement,” the message said.
Gustik took part in freestyle skiing competitions, won two victories at the World Cup stages, won silver four times and bronze three times. At the 2015 World Championships, the Belarusian took third place. Gustik participated in the 2018 and 2022 Olympic Games and recently worked as a coach of the Belarusian national team.
