Norwegian biathlete Johannes Boe won the pursuit in Hochfilzen, Elvira Oeberg won the women’s race

Norwegian biathlete Johannes Boé became the winner of the pursuit race at the second stage of the World Cup in Hochfilzen, Austria.

The Norwegians took all the places on the podium. Boe, a five-time Olympic champion, started the pursuit in 11th place, finished the race with a penalty and was 22.6 seconds ahead of his closest pursuer. Johannes Dahle finished second (3 misses), the leading trio was completed by sprint winner Tarjei Boe (2 misses; +28.4).

In the women’s race, Sweden’s Elvira Oeberg took first place, Switzerland’s Lena Hecky was second (+11.2) and Norwegian sprint champion Ingrid Tandrevold (+13.9) was third. Everyone who won the chase made a mistake.

Russian Daria Virolainen, who has represented the Finnish national team since this season, made five shooting errors and finished 54th.

Russian athletes are not allowed to compete under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) due to the situation in Ukraine.
