The coach of the Ukrainian men’s biathlon team believes that a good result in the relay will allow him to better prepare himself for the third stage of the World Cup
Head coach Ukrainian men’s biathlon team Juraj Sanitra commented on the results of the men’s relay at the second stage World Cup 2023/24 in Austrian Hochfilzen.
“We had to gain confidence and go to Switzerland in a better mood. Today we were very, very supported by the shooting, because the guys shot accurately. And on the track it was already clear that there was an opportunity to fight in contact with rivals. And I think that the entire team who ran today showed their maximum, showed their strong character. Because in such a suboptimal state and to have such a good start… Thank you all very much.”
“I think that everyone worked at their maximum at their stage: from the first Artem Tishchenko, the second Dmitry Pidruchny, the third Artem Prima and to the fourth Anton Dudchenko. What else should I add? I think it was a total team result, so we should be happy that there is already something positive in our team this season.”
“Pidruchny surprises me from the first start. Because the way he moves on the track is top movement. Now the last two starts have shown that shooting is better. There is still a little margin, but there is confidence, and therefore we will continue to watch. Because we need to take care of him a little – I don’t want him to be overloaded from the very beginning of the season. Because he had a long pause and he needs to somehow determine the number of starts in preparation for the peak of the season – the World Championships.”
“I think that this relay helped us a lot, because behind us all the teams with whom we are fighting for the top ten are strong teams. The Slovenians performed poorly today, Switzerland is behind us, the Czech Republic is behind us, and the Finns too. Therefore, I think that we will be in the top ten of the Cup at the next start.”
The next World Cup stage – the last one in 2023 – will take place in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, from December 14 to 17.
The 2024 World Cup will be held in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, from February 7 to 18.
