“If you don’t like the pressure, call a plumber.” Vasiliev responded to criticism of living conditions in Ufa

President of the St. Petersburg Biathlon Federation, two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Vasilyev believes that modern athletes have never dreamed of the “Spartan” conditions in which biathletes performed during their careers.

The first races of the Ufa stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup will take place on Friday. On Tuesday, several videos appeared on the GERGONOSKUDISKA Telegram channel, hosted in particular by Russian national team biathletes Natalya Gerbulova and Ekaterina Noskova, in which athletes complain about living conditions in a local hotel. One of the videos also showed the number of the Krasnoyarsk Territory team. Later, biathlete Zhanna Maksimovich told that the staff of the stadium hotel where the participants lived resolved the problems in the room.

“Modern athletes cannot even imagine the conditions we found ourselves in when we were preparing for the Olympic Games. They had never even dreamed of it. I understand that times change and so do requirements; I am in no way calling for a move to Spartan conditions, but you need to put the emphasis on yourself. Don’t like the water pressure from your tap? Call a plumber,” Vasiliev told RT.

The Ufa stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup will begin on Friday, December 15. Watch the live broadcast of the men’s sprint on the channel, starting at 8:35 (Moscow time), the broadcast of the women’s race is scheduled for 11:40 (Moscow time).
