For the 36-year-old biathlete, the start in Shushen was supposed to be the first of the season
Ukrainian biathlete Elena Bilosyuk told why she didn’t start in the sprint race at the third stage IBU Cup in Shushen.
“They did an examination in Lvov: there was nothing major, no surgery was needed. Anti-inflammatory therapy and rehabilitation exercises; there was no ban on physical activity. We reduced the load a little and continued working. Yesterday I did my pre-race preparation and was getting ready for the start, but by morning my knees were very swollen. When I started skiing, I realized that I couldn’t run the race,” Bilosyuk said.
For Elena, this start was supposed to be the first of the season. Let us remind you that 36-year-old Bilosyuk was not included in the main squad of the Ukrainian national team for the 2023/24 World Cup.
Also not at the start of the sprint in Shushen were Daria Blashko, who will miss all races in 2023 due to health problems, and Yulia Gorodnaya, who was injured in training.
