Finnish biathlete Daria Virolainen took 39th place in the sprint race at the third stage of the World Cup in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
Virolainen covered the distance of 7.5 km, 2 minutes 41.3 seconds behind winner Justine Brezat-Boucher (France), after making two errors at the shooting range.
The second was the Norwegian Ingrid Tandrevold (+12.2; 0 miss), the leading trio was closed by the Italian Lisa Vitozzi (+17.2; 0).
Previously, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) had allowed Virolainen, 34, to compete for Finland in international competitions. Since 2016, she has lived in this republic permanently, but as a member of the Russian national team she won gold at the 2017 European Championship in mixed doubles singles.
Russian biathletes do not participate in competitions under the auspices of the IBU due to the situation in Ukraine.
