Biathlon world champion Anton Babikov told that he analyzed his work at the shooting range based on the results of the first starts of the season and revealed a careless attitude towards shooting from a prone position.
On Thursday, Babikov became the winner of the prologue in the duel shooting format before the start of the second stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup in Ufa. In the decisive match, Babikov from the “Kings of the Quiet Hour” team, without making a single mistake, defeated Kirill Bazhin (“One Right”).

—Actually, no, because I’m just learning my winter shooting skills. After analyzing my starts, I realized that I had been careless in my prone position and had fired the wrong cartridge; she broke and even came out of position. Only here in Ufa did I find a good cartridge, or rather, they gave it to me. Today I was hoping I would shoot well, but I didn’t think I would shoot fast. The prologue is a pre-start competition organized by the SBR before the main competition program of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup, Championship and Cup of Russia. The biathletes compete in four teams. At each individual stage, the winners of the competition receive 50, 40 and 30 thousand rubles and points for ranking, respectively. The winning team will receive 1 million rubles at the end of the season.
The second stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup will begin on Friday.
