Pidruchny: It ran great. Unfortunately, I couldn’t handle the shooting

The Ukrainian biathlete is not very happy with his performance, but notes some progress

Leader Ukrainian men’s biathlon team Dmitry Pidruchny commented on his result in the sprint race at the third stage World Cup 2023/24 in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

“It ran great. The skis worked very, very well, thanks to our service for preparing the skis. Unfortunately, I couldn’t cope with the shooting. My two misses were the first and the last in prone and standing. For some reason zeros are not coming to me yet, but I think that I will be shot, just like I run away. It seems to be getting better and better.”

“The track here is quite difficult, this was my first time running on it, the terrain is very difficult. I will say that it was hard to run, but I looked good during my run, but we’ll see from the analysis. In general, I’m not very happy, there is something to work on. I’m glad that there is some progress: both in shooting and during the course.”

Let us remind you that today Pidruchny took 22nd place in the sprint. This is the best result among Ukrainians. Two more representatives of our country, Artem Prima and Taras Lesyuk, finished in the top 50, advancing to the pursuit race.

Pidruchny spent a long time recovering from a broken arm. Due to injury, Dmitry missed the 2023 Summer World Cup and was not included in the Ukrainian national team’s squad for the first stage of the World Cup in Östersund.

The start of the season for Pidruchny came in the sprint race in Hochfilzen, Austria, where Dmitry had four penalties took 52nd place. But in the pursuit race, the Ukrainian made two shooting misfires and finished 19th.

On Saturday, December 16, the men’s and women’s pursuit races will take place in Lenzerheide, with mass starts on Sunday.
