Canadian alpine skier Stephanie Fleckenstein was injured following a fall downhill during the World Cup in Val d’Isère (France).
Fleckenstein completed all the difficult sections of the course, but was unable to stay standing a few meters from the finish line. At the time of the fall, the 26-year-old athlete’s speed exceeded 100 km/h. Her skis did not come off, the skier remained lying on the ground and screamed loudly in pain.
The competition was interrupted for approximately 20 minutes and then resumed. As Eurosport notes, Fleckenstein was sent to hospital.
