Russian biathlete Tamara Derbusheva noted that she never dreamed of winning Olympic gold.
Derbusheva is a silver and bronze medalist at the World Roller Skiing Championships.
— In the team, we still laugh sometimes: when I entered the sports school, Alexey, the future husband of Natalia Shevchenko, was in my class. He loves to tell a story: he says, such a calm girl came, sat at the first desk, adjusted her glasses, buried her face in a book, got drunk… I didn’t at all experienced this experience, like many others, – they say, I will definitely become an Olympic champion. I hadn’t even imagined that.
Thanks to sport, I changed a little in my life, I rebuilt myself internally. And perhaps, just by my example, I try to inspire girls to be strong, courageous and not afraid to move forward,” Derbusheva said, as quoted by RT.
