Olympic champion Semyon Elistratov is in the lead after the first day of competition at the Russian Short Track Speed Skating Championships.
At the competitions in Kolomna, Elistratov won at a distance of 1,500 m, Sergei Milovanov became second, and Pyotr Kotmakov finished third. In the 500th, Pavel Sitnikov finished first, Artem Kozlov second and Daniil Eybog third.
Elistratov scored 39 points over the sum of two distances, Sitnikov finished second (34 points), Milovanov third (22).
Anna Matveeva won the women’s 1,500m, Anna Vostrikova was second and Alena Krylova was third. Sofya Boytsova won the 500m, Elena Seregina was second and Failya Aimaletdinova was third. Matveeva leads with 34 points, the best time over 1500 m (2.22.175) and the best total places (20), Boytsova is second with the same number of points, Seregina is in third position – 29.
On the last day of the competition, the decisive races of the 1000m and the super finals will take place.
