The captain of the Ukrainian national biathlon team spoke about his preparations for the new sports season.
Dmitry Pidruchny spoke about the big problems he has to face while preparing for the new biathlon season.
In an IBU commentary, the captain of the Ukrainian men’s team said he had COVID-19 disease before the training process started, and therefore it was difficult for him to exercise. In addition, the athlete said he was very worried about the ongoing war in Ukraine.
“Once a week I was allowed to go home, and I ran so that at least for an hour my heart and muscles would remember what was loaded. I also got sick of COVID-19, so it was only in mid-May that I started training., And the first exercises are very hard.
However, step by step, we are now trying to return the form to go back to the previous level. I feel, my appearance is “behind” a month and a half from what I usually have at this time. But I already felt the rhythm and started chasing the men.
Of course, everything that happens in the house is not reflected in the mood and setting; it is difficult to leave the country. You know that there is a war going on and people are dying, that the Armed Forces of Ukraine stands as a wall and gives us the opportunity to practice. But you go to practice and think about what you need to do now, with your attention focused on it, ”Pidruchny said.
