French biathletes Simon and Claude win the Christmas race for the second year in a row

Olympic medalists Julie Simon and France became the winners of the traditional biathlon “Christmas Race”, which took place in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

After winning the mass start, they started the pursuit race from first place and did not allow other competitors to approach them. They covered the distance in 34 minutes 43.5 seconds, making 3 errors. Second place went to Norwegians Ingrid Tandrevold and Sturla Lægreid, who also lost 57.5 seconds to the leaders with three penalties. In the fight for third place, the Slovenians Polona Klemencic and Jakov Fak were faster, who at the finish were ahead of the Germans Janina Hettich-Waltz and Roman Rees (2 penalties, +1 minute 8.2 seconds).

Julia Simon and Fabien Claude became winners of the competition in Germany for the second year in a row.

The Christmas race in Gelsenkirchen has been held since 2002. Russians have won it 5 times, the last time in 2020 by Matvey Eliseev and Evgenia Pavlova.
