Ruslan Zakharov: “I want a healthy generation to grow up in our country”

Olympic short track speed skating champion, 2022 Games silver medalist in speed skating Ruslan Zakharov I believe that success in sports depends on the health of the nation, so I want to see a healthy generation growing up in the country.

Zakharov finished 2023 with a victory at the Russian Championship in the team race and silver medals at the distances of 5,000, 10,000 m and the mass start.

— We were at the Russian Championships in Irkutsk, many people caught a virus, not everyone coped with it and someone had to withdraw from the competition. I wish everyone good health, the healthier we are, the better. I want there to be a healthy generation. The healthier a nation is, the more this translates into good sporting results. Therefore, I wish everyone to be healthy and take care of their lifestyle. It is clear that changing habits takes decades. But I would like to make jogging and morning exercises a habit. It becomes a habit when it comes to brushing your teeth. I would like amateur sport to develop within normal limits, so that RUSADA would sometimes come to amateurs and help them develop in a normal direction,” Zakharov told .
