Olympic medalist skier Andersson takes off from the Tour de Ski

Swedish skier Ebba Andersson refused to continue participating in the multi-day Tour de Ski race.

Before the start of the Tour, the 26-year-old Swede suffered from coronavirus. Andersson was unable to qualify in the sprint during the first stage of the Tour; she finished 13th in the individual 10 km race and took 14th place in the pursuit.

— The reason I withdrew from the Tour was the coronavirus. It wasn’t a disaster, but I feel like I’m afraid of the consequences that might happen if I continue to run. “I don’t regret coming here,” the athlete said, according to Expressen.

Andersson is world champion in skiathlon and mass start, double Olympic medalist in the relay.

The fourth stage of the Tour de Ski will take place in Davos on January 3. Watch live broadcasts of the multi-day race on the TV channels of the Match holding company.
