“After the birth of the child, the unpleasant aftertaste of the Beijing Olympics was forgotten” – biathlete Kayumova

Biathlete Valeria Kayumova told that after the birth of her child, she forgot what happened to her at the Beijing Olympics.

Kayumova won the sprint at the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup stage on Friday. At the Beijing Olympics, the biathlete, who then had the surname Vasnetsova, did not compete due to testing positive for coronavirus. She also complained about food during quarantine, after which she had health problems.

— Can we say that this is one of the happiest days after the Olympics?

– No, because the happiest day was the day my daughter was born. It’s just a nice bonus to the work done. And happiness lies in motherhood.

— How long did the unpleasant aftertaste of the Olympic Games last?

– After the birth of the child, everything was already forgotten, so everything that is done is for the best. But now I have a daughter.

—Did today’s victory come unexpectedly?

– Very unexpected. I still don’t understand how this happened. We adjusted the plan by doing a lot of development work. During this week, I did as much development work as I had not done during the entire training period.

— How does Rustam Kayumov (Valeria’s husband – approx. ) combine his sports career and the work of your personal trainer?

— He writes a plan for himself and for me. Until the New Year we were doing a workload, then I asked to put more emphasis on development work, he adjusted it for me, and that’s why today everything worked out went so well.

—Are any of the coaches helping?

“Of course, Maxim Gennadievich Maksimov and Sergei Georgievich Sandulyak help us a lot,” Kayumova told .
