Russian biathlete Alexander Povarnitsyn called the non-participation of the Belarusian national team in the Spartakiad of the Strongest a huge loss.
The Spartakiad of the Strongest will take place in February, and biathlon competitions will be held in Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk region. Belarusian biathletes take part in the stages of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup.
On Saturday, RBU President Viktor Maigurov told that as far as he knew, Belarusian biathletes would not participate in the Spartakiad.
“I think it’s a huge loss, because the Belarusians are very strong, which they prove at the stages of the Russian Cup and the Commonwealth Cup. (Anton) Smolsky, of course, is out of competition, but other guys will soon buckle under pressure, Povarnitsyn told .
