President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBR) Viktor Maygurov believes that the organizers of the World Cup stage in Oberhof did not do enough work during the competition, because the snow supply could have been prepared in advance.
On Wednesday, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) announced the postponement of the men’s World Cup sprint in Oberhof due to hot weather, rain and strong winds. Instead of January 4, the race took place on January 5. Later, five-time Olympic champion Martin Fourcade criticized the IBU for choosing a German city to host the competition in unsuitable weather conditions.
— Have you followed the news from the World Cup? Have you heard of Oberhof?
— The conditions at Oberhof are not a surprise, as the weather there is always difficult. This is probably a fault on the part of the organizers, because a supply of snow could have been made. The image that was there was not at the level of the World Cup,” reports the correspondent according to Maygurov’s words.
