Belarusian national team biathlete Anna Sola told that she was very worried after the first two races of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup stage in Raubichi (Belarus), and therefore wanted to quit the sport.
Sola won gold in the mass start on Sunday. On Friday she finished 16th in the sprint and on Saturday she finished 13th in the pursuit.
— Were you very worried about the first two races?
– A lot.
— How did you manage to survive and forget the failures?
– It’s the support of so many people. A conversation with a coach who told me that motivating things helped me. He told me what to watch out for and what not to pay attention to. Of course, my loved ones were very supportive.
— Can we say that you saved the Belarusian team today?
– I ran away. If my race hadn’t gone well today, I don’t know how I would have handled the stress. I was very anxious. After every race I was in tears and said, “This is it! I don’t want to play sports anymore.” It was very difficult, to be honest. So the victory is very valuable for me: I managed to pull myself together and win.
— Do you want to do biathlon today?
– Yes (laughs). As strange as it sounds,” Sola told .
