Three-time Russian biathlon champion Natalia Shevchenko told how she learned not to be afraid of sliding down dangerous slopes.
Shevchenko won the pursuit race at the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup stage in Raubichi (Belarus) on Saturday. Last season, she won gold three times at the Russian Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk, and in September, at the Russian Summer Championships, the former skier became the first in the relay as part of the team the Sverdlovsk region.
— Ski sprinting taught me not to be afraid of all that. It is clear that you should not be impudent, everything should be within the rules, but you should not be shy either. And I’m not afraid to go down. This, you could say, is my strong point. I may lose on the way up, but I will definitely catch up on the way down,” RT Shevchenko quotes.
Shevchenko, who previously competed in cross-country skiing under the name Mekryukov, switched sports in the summer of 2022.
