Biathlete of the Sverdlovsk region team Natalia Shevchenko told that she wanted to organize a team race for the first time.
On Friday, the team from the Sverdlovsk region won first place in the women’s team race. Irina Kazakevich, Natalia Shevchenko, Anastasia Shevchenko and Tamara Derbusheva played for the team.
According to the rules, four people from the same team start at the same time. At the lines, two biathletes are shooting and the others are in the waiting area. For each failure, two athletes are sent into a penalty loop. When passing the course and at the finish, the distance between the first and last teammate cannot exceed 15 seconds.
— This is the first time you are participating in a team race. How do you feel?
— Very cool, I liked everything. It was interesting to run and keep an eye on your partners. Our team shot very well: a penalty is very little for four people.
— Your team has been called the big favorite. Was it distracting or useful?
“It never distracts me personally.” If they consider you strong, it only flatters you. We didn’t think before the race that anything could go wrong. The main thing is not to break anything. The goal is to shoot five cleanly.
— When you were in the waiting room, wasn’t it cold?
– No. Fortunately, the girls only went one lap, and Irina and I didn’t have time to figure anything out. When Irina and I were shooting prone, Nastya and Tamara said they didn’t have time to get into the zone before they had to go back.
—Who should start the course first? Who is the weakest?
“We had this tactic: in front of the people lying down, those who shot went first, so that it was more comfortable for them to approach the line. Before the counter, they planned that Nastya and Tamara would go first, but after the descent it turned out that it was me who was leaving first, ”Shevchenko told .
Later Friday, the men’s team race will take place; watch the live broadcast from 11:35 (Moscow time) on the channel, as well as on the sites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
