President of the Russian Biathlon Union Viktor Maygurov announced that two prologues, previously postponed due to low temperatures, will take place as part of the January stage of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup “Izhevsk Rifle”.
During the 2023/24 season, Russian biathletes compete in an experimental format: the prologue. These are preliminary competitions organized by the SBR before the main program of competitions of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup, Championship and Cup of Russia. The biathletes compete in four teams. At each individual stage, the winners of the competition receive 50, 40 and 30 thousand rubles and points for ranking, respectively. The winning team will receive 1 million rubles at the end of the season.
— Unfortunately, some prologues did not take place due to the low temperature. When is the next one?
— Yes, the frosts disrupted the prologue program. So let’s catch up, next week in Izhevsk we will organize two prologues on both January 17 and 19. There will be a 100 meter ski race and dueling shooting. We will decide on the day on the spot and we will make sure to inform the supporters on social networks and on the SBR website,” Maygurov said on the union’s website.
The fourth stage of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup will take place in Izhevsk from January 16 to 22. Watch the live broadcast of the races on the channel, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
