Belarusian national team biathlete Dmitry Lazovsky told that the team race format is very interesting for both athletes and spectators, so such a start can take place more than once per season.
On Friday, the first Belarusian team, which included Lazovsky, won the men’s team race. According to the rules, four people from the same team start at the same time. At the lines, two biathletes are shooting and the others are in the waiting area. For each failure, two athletes are sent into a penalty loop. When passing the course and at the finish, the gap between the first and last teammate cannot exceed 15 seconds.
— We have never practiced such a discipline, we only tried something similar in training. Overall, it’s an interesting race, tactically interesting. As a cycling fan, I would note the tactic. We worked with the team on how to properly approach the line and who should enter the track first. It was interesting for me.
