Double Olympic medalist Alexander Loginov told that he would still help the Russian Biathlon Union (RBR) develop the show’s format.
Loginov took second place in the prologue of the duel shooting format on Wednesday before the start of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup in Izhevsk. In the final he lost to Viktor Plitsev.
— How do you like the format?
— It was difficult because there was a strong wind. The weather is not at all suitable for such a discipline, but we have to deal with it. I hope it’s also interesting for the fans.
— Is the wind the main difficulty?
– Yes. Another difficulty is rushing. You have to rush and shoot uncontrollably, causing you to lose focus. There’s no point in delaying, because you have extras.
— Why is the SBR doing this? Does biathlon need shows?
— I believe that any spectacle in biathlon is beneficial for development. I am for such initiatives and I will always try to help so that we do not stand still,” Loginov told .
In the 2023/24 season, Russian biathletes perform in an experimental format – the prologue. These are preliminary competitions organized by the SBR before the main program of competitions of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup, Championship and Cup of Russia. The biathletes compete in four teams. At each individual stage, the winners of the competition receive 50, 40 and 30 thousand rubles and points for ranking, respectively. The winning team will receive one million rubles at the end of the season.
On Friday, individual races will take place at the Russian Cup stage in Izhevsk. Watch the live broadcast of the men’s start from 9:35 (Moscow time) on the channel, the women’s start from 12:35 (Moscow time). Also follow the progress of the races on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru sites.
