Russian national team biathlete Ekaterina Noskova told that she was afraid of a repeat of muscle spasms during the individual race at the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup stage in Izhevsk, but the problem no longer bothered her.
Noskova finished her performance in the mass start of the Alfa-Bank Russian Championship in Tchaikovsky on Sunday ahead of schedule. On Thursday, she finished seventh in the individual race in Izhevsk.
— What happened during the big mass departure and how did you feel today?
— During the mass start, I had a spasm of the intercostal muscle. The pain itself was sharp, during the run I could not breathe from below, there was only shallow breathing. I realized that I couldn’t continue the race like this. I went to the doctor of the Belarusian national team, he gave me some pills and in less than an hour I was released. Then I wrote to the rehabilitation specialist Ilya (Yakovlev), he showed me the breathing exercises that I did for three days. In principle, this problem did not bother me today, although there were such concerns. This kind of subconscious fear will suddenly occur again.
—Is this the first time this has happened?
– Yes.
– And because of what?
— There are many options, but we haven’t found any obvious reason. It happens, sometimes it grabs one of the muscles, and this can happen for various reasons,” Noskova told .
On Saturday, the program for the Izhevsk stage will continue with the men’s and women’s sprints. Watch live broadcasts of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup competitions on the channel, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
