“I got the tip of my ski stuck in a snowdrift.” Biathlete Shevchenko said she fell on the same section of track in Izhevsk as a year ago.

Russian national team biathlete Natalia Shevchenko told that she fell during the individual race at the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup stage in Izhevsk and fell on the same section of the distance last season.

Shevchenko took fifth place in the women’s individual race on Thursday with two penalties.

— You arrived at the second shot with a rifle full of snow. Did you fall?

– Yes, unfortunately I fell in the same place as last year. When you go completely to this side of the track, there is a turn and a descent. At the left turn, there is a snowdrift. It turns out that while turning to go down, I caught the tip of my ski in the snow. I turned around and fell on my back.

There was a crack so hard I thought my stock was broken. The first thing I did was start touching the rifle. Everything seemed intact. I didn’t break the sticks either. I continued on and as I turned the corner I realized that all the clips, diopter and grip were all covered in snow. While standing, I still shot normally. When I get to bed, I turn my cheek down and my bottom is just black. Thank God the handlebars were visible, so I let myself be guided by it,” Shevchenko told .

On Saturday, the program for the Izhevsk stage will continue with the men’s and women’s sprints. Watch live broadcasts of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup competitions on the channel, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
