Russian short track team coach Andrei Maksimov told that the Russian Cup stage in Saransk was held at a high level.
This stage of the Russian Cup was the last before the main start of the season – the Spartakiad of the Strongest.
— Saransk welcomed us with good weather. Everything was at the highest level: accommodation, organization, the ice cream was good, fast. In the final race the guys showed good seconds. The task was to practice tactical skills, observe the opponents, in what state they were and adjust their technique and tactics before the Spartakiad.
— What do you think of Sergei Milovanov’s two victories at this stage?
— Sergey Milovanov is an athlete from St. Petersburg, his coach is Svetlana Vladimirovna Tretyakova. He simply tried to run the 1000 and 1500m from the start as far as he had the strength, and it worked!
— How does Semyon Elistratov feel?
– He is healthy. Semyon is an adult, he does everything on his own, he only asks for directions every moment. “He is preparing to compete in the Spartakiad,” Maksimov told .
The All-Russian Winter Sports Spartakiad among the strongest athletes will be held from February 9 to 18 in five regions of Russia. Short track skaters will compete in Chelyabinsk.
