Biathlete Shevchenko: “My skiing background taught me to correctly distribute my strength over the distance”

Biathlete Natalia Shevchenko who won the sprint at the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup stage in Izhevsk, said his ski training taught him to correctly distribute his strength over the distance.

Shevchenko avoided mistakes on Saturday in two shooting stages, clocked 24 minutes 55.2 seconds and took first place in the sprint. The second was Anastasia Egorova (0 misses, lag – 10.3 seconds), closed the top three Anastasia Batmanova (0; +20.0).

— My skiing background taught me to distribute my strength well over distance, and that helped me. Of course, the fate of the race was decided by two zeros on the lines. The slide was difficult, the track was completely rutted, there was a lot of snow, so the shot was mostly the decision. Much depended on inventory. If the skis do not work in such conditions, it will be very difficult,” Shevchenko was quoted as saying by Metaratings.ru.

Biathlon races will take place in Zlatoust (Chelyabinsk region) from February 11 to 18 as part of the Winter Spartakiad of the Strongest. Watch live broadcasts of biathlon competitions on TV channels of the Match group, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
