Shevnina said her husband inspired her during the mass start of the Russian Cup stage in Izhevsk

Biathlete Polina Shevnina After silver in the big mass start of the fourth stage of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup in Izhevsk, she said on that during the race she was inspired by her husband and coach Sergei Konovalov.

On Sunday, Shevnina became second in the mass start in Izhevsk, making four errors and losing 1 minute 18.2 seconds to Victoria Slivko. Larisa Kuklina finished third.

“I want to thank my husband (Sergei Konovalov), who came here five minutes before the race. At first I stopped the struggle, then I remembered how Seryozha won bronze in the mass start in Oberhof in 2004. This gave me strength. I shouldn’t have let him down. I turned on the last climb, it was such a track, I had to look for somewhere to escape. As they say, I gave all my strength on the track.

The stock is still large, there is a reserve. These are not the best conditions for me, because the acceleration is still in progress. We don’t jump over our heads, we gradually move up the hill,” Shevnina said on .

Biathlon races will take place in Zlatoust (Chelyabinsk region) from February 11 to 18 as part of the Winter Spartakiad of the Strongest. Watch live broadcasts of biathlon competitions on TV channels of the Match group, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
