“Babikov took a difficult route to Izhevsk. He is the Kipchoge of biathlon” – Lazovsky

World champion Anton Babikova can be compared to the two-time Olympic marathon champion, Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge, because on Sunday the Russian flew over the Izhevsk track, Belarusian biathlete Dmitry Lazovsky told .

On Sunday, Babikov won the 15 km mass start at the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup stage in Izhevsk, Lazovsky came second, and Alexander Loginov closed the leading trio. Previously, Belarusians won the pursuit and sprint races.

—Have you not been given the task of winning the three races here?

– I would like. Since they took two, they could have taken a third. We were just able to achieve, but there was no benefit.

— Are the current conditions with powder snow very difficult for you?

— I think they are difficult for everyone, but differently for everyone. Here is Anton Babikov, he flies, he is our Kipchoge in biathlon (laughs). In such conditions you cannot attack as much as possible on a hard track, so we had to adapt to the situation.

-Which is worse: frost or snow?

— The frost is definitely worse. It is better to run in the rain, in such snow, than in severe frost, when you can neither breathe nor run normally, ”Lazovsky told .

Later on Sunday, a women’s mass start will take place in Izhevsk; watch the live broadcast from 12:35 Moscow time on the channel. You can also follow the progress of the race on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
