Gadzhieva about the “Match TV Star Race”: “I perceive shooting in biathlon like jumping in figure skating”

host and former figure skater Emma Gadzhieva said that she perceives target shooting in biathlon like jumping in figure skating.

On January 28 at 12:00 p.m. the “ Star Race” will take place in biathlon. Teams of two people each: a biathlon star and a famous amateur, will compete for a prestigious trophy and demonstrate their skills. Gadzhieva is one of the participants.

— My favorite biathlete is Dima Guberniev, no one has made me fall in love with this sport like he made me fall in love with this sport. I think biathlon is more interesting than cross-country skiing because there is a lot of intrigue due to shooting. I perceive shooting in biathlon like jumping in figure skating. Five targets – five elements, standing shooting in short program, lying down shooting – free. With each jump you need to inhale and exhale. I hope my laziness will help my performance, because I will be too lazy to do extra laps, which means I have to shoot well.

— Do you prefer to shoot lying down or standing?

— Shooting while lying down is dangerous – there is a chance that after running a circle I will lie down and not get up, ha-ha. Well, seriously, I don’t tolerate it well when my muscles go slack. In figure skating you can’t relax your muscles, you just can’t pull yourself together, so I don’t really understand how you can lie down and relax your muscles and then run again. I tried shooting and hit five out of five targets while prone. I have an official training session soon. Then they asked me how much training I was getting. She said this, because the strong don’t need training, and the weak won’t help (laughs). They asked me how I was going to run, I said: of course, with a skate.

I could not even imagine before that I would run a biathlon race, commented by Dmitry Guberniev. Thanks to and Moscow Sport for this opportunity,” Gadzhieva told .
