President of the Russian Skating Union Nikolai Gulyaev told that thanks to the new equipment of the Ural Lightning Ice Palace, the arena can host the highest level of short track competitions.
Short track competitions as part of the Spartakiad of the Strongest will take place in February in Chelyabinsk.
“Everything is ready, everything is fine,” Gulyaev said, commenting on on the readiness of the facilities for the competition. — For the first time, we will host competitions of this level in short track speed skating and speed skating in a single facility. The rink is now permanently equipped with a flat mat system. Thus, we have another venue to organize tournaments of the highest level in short track speed skating. So there is some optimism. For short track competitions, the arena is equipped with a higher level, corresponding to the World Cup level.
