Pidruchny: If I hadn’t fallen on the fourth lap, I would have competed for a medal

The Ukrainian was dissatisfied with the preparation of the course at the 2024 European Biathlon Championships

Ukrainian biathlete Dmitry Pidruchny commented on his performance in the pursuit race at European Championship 2024.

“Even before the start I understood that it was possible to fight for high places. Moreover, there was wind, so we were getting ready to shoot. The track was difficult. In my opinion, the organizers prepared it poorly – they “rolled it up” before the race, so it was broken.”

“I’m more pleased with shooting in such windy weather, although I had two annoying misses with the last shots on the “racks.” I’m not very happy with the race itself, because on the fourth lap I fell, which is why I lost about 12-15 seconds and fell behind Antonin Guigonne. If I had come to the shooting with him, perhaps there would have been a chance to compete for medals.”

“But that’s how it is. It’s good that I have progressed relative to the start, but I always want higher positions.”

“Regarding the mixed relay, the mood is positive. We are determined to fight for high places, and the race will show.”

Dmitry was the best among Ukrainians in the pursuit race and took seventh place. The Ukrainian significantly improved his position after the sprint, where he was 20th.

Mixed relay races will take place on Sunday at the European Championships in Brezno-Osrbli. The classic mixed race will start at 11:45, the mixed single will start at 15:00.
