— You literally dragged the semi-finals on your knees – you crawled to the finish line. How did it happen?
“I just didn’t have time to get up.” I turned around and saw that time was running out, the opponent was very close. As a result, I literally crawled with my last strength and took second place in the semifinals.
— Have you broken your opponent psychologically? It came unexpectedly.
“I also fell right after.” But I tried to get to the finish line and force the fight.
— Did the fact that you do athletics help you in today’s race?
– Yes of course. Athletics gave me strength and inspiration. It’s a shame that I put all my effort into the semi-final. There’s nothing left for the finale. Something like that.
— How do you evaluate this experience in biathlon?
– I like this. Everything was cool: we photographed, rode, met athletes, stars, astronauts, singers. I’m very happy to have this experience, I’m happy that this opportunity presented itself. I don’t know yet if I’m going to continue skiing. We need to move away from competition. I can’t feel my legs, I can barely stand.
— What do you think about the fact that Russian track and field athletes and other athletes cannot participate in international competitions?
– I have heard all these stories about what is prohibited, about doping, that’s it… I think it is unacceptable for Russian athletes to compete under a white flag. The Russians always come first! So to be in first place with a white flag, and not even play your own anthem… I don’t know.
