“The decision in the Valieva case sparked a cold war in world sport” – Vasiliev

Double Olympic biathlon champion Dmitry Vasilyev told that the case of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva embodies the attitude of the West towards all Russian sports and Russia as a whole.

On Monday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decided to find Valieva guilty of violating anti-doping rules and disqualify her for 4 years from the date of collection of the doping sample – December 25, 2021.

– Simply scoundrels! We knew that this medication had no effect, no advantage for the athlete. This is undisguised cynicism towards all Russian athletes. The Valieva case reflects the attitude of the West towards all Russian sports and Russia as a whole. We must take a firm stance and sever all relations with international sports organizations. Liberalism must be brought together in one place, we must speak harshly with these scoundrels so that they know their place. The puppets must understand that with this decision they have started the Cold War in world sport. We must completely withdraw from all international structures, otherwise we cannot talk to these inadequate people.

In addition, we must begin the procedure of preparing for the elections at the head of the IOC. We have many supporters – in Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and many more. We need to bring them all together, vote together for the right candidate and expel the scoundrels from the IOC,” Vasiliev told .

Valieva at the Beijing Olympics helped the Russian team win gold in the team competition. Before the personal tournament, it became known that the banned drug trimetazidine was found in the doping sample of the figure skater of the Russian championship. The CAS allowed the Russian to participate in the individual competitions at the Games, where she finished fourth.

In January 2023, the anti-doping disciplinary committee of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (DAK RUSADA) ruled that although Valieva committed an anti-doping rule violation, she bore “no fault or negligence”. The athlete avoided sanctions, except for the cancellation of his results on the date of sample collection – December 25, 2021. Subsequently, RUSADA, the International Skating Union (ISU) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) filed appeals to CAS, which were consolidated into one proceeding.
