Belarusian national team biathlete Anton Smolski told that her team was ready to compete and win the strongest at the Spartakiad, but she criticized the organizers, who made a late decision about the participation of Belarusians.
On Thursday, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation introduced an addition to the regulations on holding the Spartakiad of the Strongest, according to which Belarusian athletes will be able to compete. Their results will be taken into account in the unofficial protocol without summarizing the general ranking of the teams based on the results of the Spartakiad competitions.
— I would like to start with the criticisms: they got to the point where we had certain difficulties in canceling the collection that we had planned (on these dates). Turns out I had to rebook plane tickets to Zlatoust. And it was very difficult to do, because on some dates everything was full – there were no places. The problem is precisely that it happened so spontaneously and unexpectedly. From the summer, we were told that we were not going. I don’t see any problem in terms of fitness, because we are ready to compete and win in any case. There is no problem of preparation, the only difficulties are logistical.
Fortunately, the decision on our participation was not made the day before departure (laughs). Everything has its advantages, but there are also many disadvantages. There’s a lot of criticism, but we’re ready to get started. The main thing is that everything goes well for us with the move and accommodation,” Smolsky told .
The Spartakiad biathlon will be held from February 10 to 18 in Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk region.
