Malinovsky’s father explained why the search for a helicopter piloted by a biathlete was postponed

Father of a Russian biathlete Igor Malinovsky Vladimir said the search for the helicopter piloted by his son was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

Malinovsky was at the controls of a helicopter that took off on July 16 on the route Milkovo – Valley of Geysers – Caldera of the Uzon volcano. Later, the helicopter stopped communicating. On Sunday, the vehicle was found burnt down by Kamchatka rescuers. The Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed that none of the passengers survived. Malinovsky was 25 years old.

– In the afternoon, the cloudiness began to decrease and the last contact took place at 12:41 p.m. At 2:15 p.m. Igor saw a breach and went there, there was no more communication. The search could not begin, they had planned it at the beginning. They wanted to raise the An-26. I said my word, but the An-26 commander said that it was pointless to fly above the clouds. Tomorrow morning the weather will improve and the search will begin, – said Malinovsky Sr. on the air of the program “All for the match!” on the channel.
