“Malinovsky was drawn to the sky, it carried him away” – Guberniev about a biathlete who crashed in a plane crash

Commentator Dmitri Guberniev in an interview with a correspondent, he admitted that he hoped that the ex-biathlete Igor Malinovsky waiting for a successful career as a pilot.

Five-time world champion among juniors, Malinovsky after the end of his sports career became a pilot and worked in his native Kamchatka. He was at the controls of a helicopter that crashed in Kamchatka on July 16. The Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed that none of the passengers survived. Malinovsky was 25 years old.

“I really liked this guy. It’s a big tragedy for me personally. He was a very bright person – open eyes, beautiful smile.

I wanted Malinovsky to become a real biathlon star. Unfortunately, this was not possible, although as a junior he fully realized himself. Igor had health problems, because of which he left biathlon. This is what happens when all the juice is squeezed out of the juniors. But I thought there was a blessing in disguise and he could be a great driver.

Earlier it was reported that the Robinson RA-07350 helicopter, piloted by Malinovsky, took off on July 16 along the Milkovo – Valley of Geysers – Caldera of the Uzon volcano route. Later, the helicopter stopped communicating. On Sunday, the vehicle was found burnt down by Kamchatka rescuers. The Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) has confirmed Malinovsky’s death.
