Five-time junior world champion Malinovsky was at the controls of a helicopter that crashed in Kamchatka on July 16. The Russian Emergencies Ministry said none of the passengers survived. Malinovsky was 25 years old.

Later, the helicopter stopped communicating. On Sunday, the vehicle was found burnt down by Kamchatka rescuers. The Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) has confirmed Malinovsky’s death.
