Team France won the mixed relay, which became the first event on the program for the 2024 Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.
The French team, made up of Eric Perrault, Quentin Fillon-Mahiet, Justine Brezaz-Boucher and Julia Simon, covered the distance in 1 hour 9 minutes 24.4 seconds. The athletes used 9 additional laps and the team also completed a penalty loop.
Second place was taken by the Norwegians (Tarjei Boe, Johannes Boe, Caroline Knotten, Ingrid Tandrevold), who lost 45.2 seconds to first place (8 additional laps).
The Swedish team lost more than a minute to the leaders (10 more laps) and became third. The team was represented by Sebastian Samuelsson, Martin Ponsiluoma, Hannah Oeberg and Elvira Oeberg.
Previously, it was reported that the race could be postponed to a later date due to the consequences of the hurricane that hit the stadium.
At the Biathlon World Championships, the women’s sprint will take place on February 9 and the men’s race on February 10.
