President of the Biathlon Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan and head coach of the regional team Ildar Nugmanov told that none of the coaches were against the participation of Belarusians in the Spartakiad of the Strongest in Zlatoust.
The decision on the participation of Belarusians in the Spartakiad was made a few days before the start of the competition. At the same time, the Belarusian national team will not be able to participate in the men’s and women’s mass starts.
— Here is my opinion: Belarusian and Russian athletes should participate in all races on an equal footing. I have long said that athletes should have a level playing field. And now, faced with such a political situation, the Ministry of Sports and the RBU had to find another solution, and not so timid.
— What do the other regional coaches think? They want their athletes to participate in the mass start, earn points and justify the prize money spent on them.
— Sport is above all. I don’t know any coach who would be against the participation of Belarusians. Everyone is in favor of everyone being on an equal footing. If they hadn’t allowed it at all, it would have been a disaster. Well, cash prizes could also be paid out. Everything should be like everyone else, conditions should not be different,” Nugmanov told .
On Saturday February 10, sprint races will take place at the Spartakiade. Watch the live broadcast of the men’s start from 9:30 Moscow time, the women’s start from 12:15 Moscow time on and Match! Arena”, as well as the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
