Smolsky proposed allowing Belarusians who won medals in other races to participate in the mass start of the Spartakiad

Olympic medalist Anton Smolski told that the sprint, pursuit and individual race medalists from Belarus deserve to participate in the mass start of the Spartakiad of the Strongest.

In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Sports, published on the official website of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), 10 Belarusian biathletes (5 men and 5 women) will perform at the Spartakiad, athletes are represented in all disciplines , with the exception of general start races, scheduled for February 17 and 18. The decision on the participation of Belarusians in the Spartakiad was made a few days before the start of the competition.

– It is not the first time. I won’t say that this is a negative point, but of course I would like at least the medalists who will get on the podium in the sprint, pursuit and individual race to be entered in the mass start. I’m not talking about the whole team participating in the mass start, but specifically about people who have won prizes in other races, why not? I think the medalists should participate in the mass start. But again, we understand everything perfectly. We are guests and we cannot set our own rules here. According to the rules given to us, we participate. We are happy to just participate. And the question of prize money does not worry us either, because the prize money that we win will be paid to us at home,” Smolsky told .

On Saturday February 10, sprint races will take place at the Spartakiade. Watch the live broadcast of the men’s start from 9:30 Moscow time, the women’s start from 12:15 Moscow time on and Match! Arena”, as well as the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
